An Analysis of Recent Growth of Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Reported by the ASC Association, June 2009
The study demonstrates ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) pivotal role in moving services into less expensive and clinically appropriate settings by moving procedures from hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) into the less expensive ASC setting. The study further demonstrates that ASCs do not cause higher surgical volumes.
