Hamilton Consulting Group Political Tidbits  - December 2011

While the legislature slowly winds down for the year, a busy January awaits the legislators when they return.  Dozens of new bills have been introduced, including the recently unveiled mining legislation. Gov. Scott Walker was busy this week, signing over 20 bills (some of which are detailed below) while touring the state.  Recall efforts have hit their halfway point, but Democrats seem far from settled on who will oppose Governor Walker in an election.

Hamilton Consulting Group Political Tidbits  - November 2011

The Senate and Assembly wrapped up business last week after passing a number of bills. Thursday was the last scheduled day for both houses to meet on the floor for the rest of 2011. However, there is discussion of the Legislature convening later in the year to wrap up a few unfinished items, such as mining legislation and some other Special Session bills focusing on job creation.

Hamilton Consulting Group Political Tidbits - October 2011
Gov. Scott Walker has called a second special session focusing on job creation. In his "Back to Work Wisconsin" special session, Gov. Walker has proposed a number of legislative ideas ranging from business and agricultural loan guarantees and investments, tax credits, and agency permitting changes to civil liability reforms. The full Legislature will convene for floor session beginning next week and likely conclude in early November. See articles below discussing these proposals in greater detail.

The Election Day dust has settled and Capitol watchers are now focusing on how the incoming administration will fill the hundreds of positions that come along with the transition from outgoing Governor Doyle to incoming Governor Walker. In addition to the new faces in the administration, the legislature will see new Chairs as well as new committees in both the Senate and the Assembly.
