The Wisconsin Assembly passed an amended state budget late last night. One of the key amendments was made at WISCA’s request to update budget details related to elimination of the ASC assessment. In addition to elimination of the assessment, the amendment also provides funding of up to $2.5 million in the biennium and instructs the Department of Health Services to consult with ambulatory surgery centers to develop a plan to increase reimbursement rates for ambulatory surgical centers for services provided to recipients of Medical Assistance.

The budget now moves the state Senate for action on Friday before going to the Governor. WISCA will continue to keep members updated on the budget and looks forward to continued action on our top legislative priority.
