June 18, ASCA Government Affairs Update

On Wednesday, the US House of Representatives passed legislation that included the Electronic Health Fairness Act of 2015. This legislation, one of ASCA's priority bills, protects physicians practicing in ASCs from meaningful use penalties in the Medicare program until a certified electronic health record technology (CEHRT) is available for the ASC setting.

ASCA worked closely with ASC champions Reps. Diane Black (R-TN) and David Scott (D-GA) to draft, introduce and move this legislation in the US House, and ASCA member advocates built a critical mass of support in Congress to achieve final passage.

Our focus now turns to the US Senate, where the Finance Committee will consider the Electronic Health Fairness Act next week. Your support remains critical to keep the momentum building for this important legislation—our chances of success increase with each additional senator who signs on in support of this bill. Please use ASCA's grassroots action center to contact your senator today.
