WISCA President-Elect
Clinic Manager, Wisconsin Surgery Center
Milwaukee, WI

1. Why did you want to serve on the WISCA Board of Directors?

"I wanted to serve on the WISCA Board of Directors to learn as much as I could about ASC’s and have a resource for any questions I may come across. I felt by serving on the board I would meet many new people and have a new understanding of surgery centers across Wisconsin. It is a great experience to be a part of such a wonderful organization that truly cares about surgery centers and our patients."

2. What do you find most valuable about being a WISCA member?

"There are many valuable reasons to be a WISCA member but one of the most valuable reasons is the resources that are offered from the members and how easy it is to reach out to anyone for information. All members are wonderful to work with and come from so many backgrounds which allows for all of us to learn from each other."

3. What led to your current role?

"Ever since I graduated as a surgical tech I wanted to manage the surgical department and make a difference within surgery centers. I have worked at my surgery center for over 10 years learning all the departments and roles so I could help any department if needed. I went back to school for my bachelors in healthcare management and my masters in human resources to be able to prepare for the management position and do my best. The medical director at my center knew how much I wanted this position. He knew after working with me for 10 years in the operating room that I would strive to do my best to provide every patient with a great patient experience, and the staff a wonderful work environment. Four years later, I enjoy my role as manager more than I’ve expected I would."

4. What do you enjoy most about working in this field or career?

"Working as a manager of an ASC I enjoy the staff, physicians, and patients that I get to interact with daily. It is such a blessing to be able to work with coworkers that really want to make a difference in our patients and physicians experience. Being able to see the patients leave with a smile on their faces from the wonderful care and relaxed environment makes working in my career a success. When you wake up every morning excited about going to work you know you are blessed in the career choice you made for yourself."
