The Association of Wisconsin Surgery Centers (WISCA) presented State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette) with the organization’s Legislator of the Year award on August 30. WISCA member Bellin Health Marinette Surgery Center hosted the event. The Legislator of the Year award is given every other year to a state legislator who advocates and champions policies to support ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) in Wisconsin.

In the 2017-2018 legislative session, Representative Nygren was instrumental in forging a compromise between a variety of stakeholders resulting in the removal of the Ambulatory Surgery Center tax while maintaining sustainable funding at ASC’s who provide services to MA patients.

WISCA appreciates Representative Nygren’s dedication and assistance to helping surgery centers statewide strengthen their important and necessary role in delivering health care to Wisconsinites.
